Jakarta is the capital and economic powerhouse of Indonesia, even if regulations are not as favorable to foreigners compared to other countries in the region, many investors want to explore the opportunities to invest here.

Most international real estate companies have established offices here, you can also find local agencies that are ready to help both locals and foreigners. Finding a reputable real estate agent is the key to minimize risks when you buy property in a developing country in Indonesia. Therefore, I’ve written this article where I list some of the biggest and most popular agencies in Jakarta.

Brighton has grown much since its inception in 2011, starting with one office and 20 professionals, the company currently has more than 1200 agents working in 20 different offices, all over Indonesia. It’s a franchise company with presence in Jakarta and a number of other cities.

Harcourts was originally founded in New Zealand by John Bateman Harcourt in 1888. The start of Harcourts operations in Jakarta began when the company took ownership of Roy Weston Group, that had 15 offices in Indonesia at that time.

Nandar Gunawan is the CEO of the head office and has worked for the company since 2004. He has a long experience in the real estate industry and previously had different director positions in various companies.

They opened their first office in Jakarta in 2007, the acting Managing Director is David Cheadle who has decades of experience in the industry, from different Asian countries.

The first Jakarta branch was founded by Johann Boyke Nurtanio in 1997 and he’s still heading the company. Since its inception, it’s grown and opened another five offices throughout the city. In total, there are currently 4000 people working for the company in 175 offices all over the country.

Todd Lauchlan is heading the company’s operations in Indonesia and has many years of experience in the real estate industry. He has decades of experience in the industry and also the Head of Eurocham Property Working Group in Indonesia.

The current managing director is Michael Broomell who’s been with the company since 2004. He first relocated to Jakarta in 1992 and is the longest serving expatriate at any Indonesian real estate company. Originally from the US, Mike has earned an MBA from University of Texas and held various senior management positions in different companies.
