Interesting areas to buy property in Siem Reap

Siem Reap is fairly small but still have a number of areas that stand out from others. The following areas are some of the most popular in Siem Reap and where much activity is going on:

  • Sala Kanraeuk
  • Kouk Chak
  • Sla Kram
  • Svay Dangkum
  • The ring roads

How is the Siem Reap property market?

Siem Reap relies much on tourism, of the 5 million travelers who visit Cambodia yearly, 2 million decide going to Siem Reap. This is a bit different compared to places like Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh that are involved more in other industries, like manufacturing and fishing.

There’s been a big influx of foreigners and especially Chinese investors who see opportunities as Chinese tourists flood Siem Reap. While the amount of Japanese and Korean tourists increases with around 10% per year, the amount of Chinese increase with around 25%.

Prices have stagnated a bit in both Sihanoukville and Siem Reap, and it might continue like this for some time. But the country is growing at a fast pace and predicted to do well in the long run.

I also recommend you to read my separate article about buying property as a foreigner in Siem Reap.
